[Hey guys. So, a few things today.
First off, my grandfather just died like a week ago. Been to his funeral and memorial service. Helped carry the coffin. Then my family and I just interred his ashes at Saint Anne's Columbarium. That was on the 12th. Now we're having a hell of a time looking after grandma. She has dementia. It's just been rough the past couple of days.
Secondly, this might be somewhat old news by now but, Microsoft and Sony both unveiled their next-gen consoles: Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. Honestly, I was kinda hoping for a better GAMING console (emphasis on the GAMING part) for the Xbox, but Microsoft just pushed the Xbox from being a game console to becoming an ENTERTAINMENT console.
Now, the only difference between a game console and an entertainment console is its purpose. GAME consoles are meant for GAMING, while ENTERTAINMENT consoles are meant to do other stuff like what the X1 (yeah that's my name for it, like the Xbox 360 is shortened to 360) features. The X1 can surf the Net, watch TV shows, Skype with friends etc, while putting its main purpose, gaming, on the back burner. Then, after its "big" unveil, Sony decided to show off their console, and I honestly think Sony is directly insulting Microsoft. They unviled the PlayStation 4 and showed off its features which were the DIRECT OPPOSITE of the X1.
I can already imagine the smug faces of Sony employees when everyone cheered at how the PS4 was able to do all the stuff the X1 couldn't. And it sucks that, as an Xbox supporter my entire life, I may have to move from the Xbox to the PlayStation because Microsoft looks like they might lose the console war for good. Well, we'll just have to wait and see....
Last thing. E3 showed off quite a few great looking games so far.
-Destiny looks great. It feels sorta like Halo and Skyrim all in one. I guess that's the first game on my shopping list.
-Call of Duty: Ghosts also looks cool. New storyline, new characters, and even a dog as a teammate. What's not to love? A definite must-have.
-Honestly, I think Battlefield 4 looks the same as Battlefield 3. Graphics and all looks the same. There's really not much improvements that I can tell.
-Looks like I'll be getting the X1 just to play Halo 5. But it won't be released until 2014 so there's no rush to get the X1.
-I'm quite looking for forward to the reboot of Star Wars Battlefront by DICE. If it's going to be as good as the original or better, it would definitely be on my most-wanted list.
-Ah yes, Titanfall. It looks promising. Just like when Gears of War first debuted. It's trailer got my attention and it looks very interesting.
Looks like there are quite a few games for me to consider. It looks like quite an interesting year ahead.
Till next time.
Peace.
